1998 was the first year a proof version of the one ounce silver skippy dollar coin was released. The $1 proof has frosted designs and mirror fields with a "C" for Canberra mintmark, only 5000 coins were struck by the Royal Australian Mint in an acrylic capsule.
These were then subsequently packaged by various official RAM dealers in an unofficial plush presentation case.
