The Bilby is a desert-dwelling marsupial closely related to the bandicoot with big ears silky fur and well-developed claws ideal for burrowing. Babies are often found sheltering near spinifex. Despite the hot climate of their habitat Bilbies do not need to drink water receiving all their moisture from their food which includes insects seeds spiders fruit and other small animals.
This coin is part of a 6-coin Land Series of pad-printed coloured dollars. The coin is housed in an colour package which includes educational information about the bilby. The field on both obverse and reverse is frosted.
