  • Encapsulated and cased with a very low certificate number
  • Officially struck by the R.A.M for there loyalty program.
  • Between 2012 and 2014, the Royal Australian Mint commemorated the effigies of Queen Elizabeth II used on Australia's decimal coins since 1966. The 2012 coin has Arnold Machin's young portrait of Her Majesty on the reverse. With Ian Rank-Broadley's obverse portrait, the coin is effectively a 'double-header'.

This first coin in the 3-coin series was only offered to RAM customers who were gold or silver members of the 'collection by selection' loyalty program, a system where customers pre-ordered and pre-paid for their entire 2012 year purchases at once. If they purchased between $1,000 and $1,999 (silver member), they were given the opportunity to purchase a gem uncirculated version. If they purchased $2,000 or more (gold member) they were given the opportunity to purchase a proof version.

The coins were not available through regular channels. Mintage was determined by the number of orders received. The strict program spending limits resulted in mintages of just 100 for each version with a limit of one per member. Each coin is housed encapsulated in a black leatherette, hinged-lid presentation case, accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity and protected by a cardboard shipper.
