This $1 silver coin was issued to mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Sydney Opera House. When Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the building on 20 October 1973, the public life of one of the world's iconic buildings began. Inscribed in July 2007 on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a 'masterpiece of human creative genius', the Sydney Opera House is one of the world's busiest performing arts centres and cultural destinations.
The design features the soaring vaulted sails of the Opera House which accentuate the architectural marvel of the building. Also featured is the UNESCO temple logo.
The issue limit of 5,000 proofs was fully subscribed. Each coin is housed encapsulated, in a black leatherette hinged-lid case accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity and protected by a colourful themed cardboard shipper-SECOND QUALITY
