To celebrate the Lunar Year of the Goat dated 2015 the Royal Australian Mint is continuing the Lunar Series which started in 2007 with the Pig struck in aluminium bronze silver and gold then in 2012 with a 14 sided 50 cent coin. This year the mint has produced two magnificent Goat designs in 9 different formats.
Packaged in a red and gold box and encapsulated in a red presentation case this 99.9% silver proof $1 coin features three goats surrounding plum blossoms which symbolise hope prosperity purity and renewal in spring.
This coin is the ninth in a lunar coin series struck by the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra. Each coin is housed encapsulated in a plush red leatherette, hinged-lid presentation case, protected by a Lunar series shipper and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. The issue limit of 10,000 proofs was not reached with the mintage declared at 2,759 coins.
