$10 2002 Adelaide Pound 150th Ann. Gold Plated Silver Proof
This coin was issued to mark the 150th anniversary of the striking of Australia's first locally produced gold coin the 1852 Adelaide Pound. Housed encapsulated in a red leatherette hinged-lid presentation case and protected by a colourful outer cardboard box.
A numbered certificate of authenticity is included in an accompanying booklet which provides a concise history of the events leading up to the striking of thew coin.
The Adelaide pound designs are struck on a gold plated silver center which is the exact diameter of the original coin. For the designs a Type I cracked die original was replicated using state-of-the-art scanning technology.
The reduction punch from which the working die was created was cut directly by a computer controlled engraving machine.
