2009 $1 ANZAC Day - Lest We Forget UNC
Preserving the knowledge of our diggers' sacrifices in war time is important to new generations of Australians as the numbers of young people attending ANZAC Day ceremonies and travelling to Gallipoli each year testifies.
Symbolising the handing down of their memories from generation to generation the design on this uncirculated $1 coin portrays a former Australian serviceman with a young child sitting on his lap. With a silhouetted bugler in the background the one dollar reverse is inscribed with the words 'Lest We Forget' and the date of ANZAC Day - April 25 -on which the lives of all Australians lost in war are remembered.
