
2009 Australian Antarctic Territory Series - South Magnetic Pole 1oz Silver Proof
This is the sixth coin in the Australian Antarctic Territory Series. The central reverse design depicts Sir Douglas Mawson in the famous pose used on Australia's paper $100 notes issued between 1984 and 1996. In the background are two members of the 1909 expedition which successfully raised the Australian Flag at the south magnetic pole framed by a bright blue sky cleverly formed within a map of Antarctica.
The coin is housed encapsulated in a dark blue leatherette hinged-lid presentation case accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity and protected in a colourful cardboard outer box.
