This coin celebrates the centenary of the first flight of an Australian military aircraft, the Bristol Boxkite. The reverse design portrays a representation of an aeroplane propeller with a Bristol Boxkite flying under the propeller blade and an F/A-18 Hornet fighter aircraft soaring above.
The issue limit of 5,000 coloured proofs was not reached with the mintage declared at 2,324 coins, each housed encapsulated, in a black, hinged-lid presentation case, protected by a colourful cardboard shipper and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
