2014 The ANZAC Spirit - 1/2oz Silver 3-Coin Proof Set
The ANZAC Spirit Centenary Coin Series will run over five years from 2014-2018. The Perth Mint has released the 2014 three-coin 1/2oz 99.9% pure silver set which is the INAUGURAL release in the five-year collection. This year the collection is launched with three historic First World War Designs. Edge lettering features around the rim of each coin with the words "PRIDE . RESPECT . GRATITUDE ."
Answering The Call: The reverse features three Australian men at the recruiting office signing up to enlist in the First World War. A coloured representation of an Australian soldier in uniform is helping them to fill out the enlistment paperwork. The design includes an engraving of an original attestation paper used to enlist in the Australian Imperial Force. The legend '1914 Answering the Call', a red poppy motif, and the Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark are also incorporated into the design.
Farewell To Family: The reverse features an Australian soldier saying goodbye to his crying daughter on the wharf while he waits to board the boat to take him away to war. The inscription '1914 Farewell to Family', a red poppy motif, and the Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark are also incorporated into the design.
Australia's First Action: The reverse features an Australian soldier running through vegetation while under fire during the fighting for Bita Paka wireless station. The inscription '1914 Australia's First Action', a red poppy motif and the Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark are also incorporated into the design.
