$5 2015 ANZAC Centenary Triangular Coloured 2 Coin Silver Proof
2015 ANZAC Centenary two coin set commemorates the two pacific nations joining forces who were deployed to capture Turkey's Gallipoli peninsula in the First World War.
To commemorate the servicemen and women who have served and sacrificed in war the Royal Australian Mint and New Zealand Post have collaborated to produce this two-coin silver proof set.
Australia's fourth legal tender triangular $5 coin issued by the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra, and the first with colour, the reverse design depicts two ANZAC soldiers helping a wounded comrade during the Gallipoli Campaign, with a map of the Dardanelles War Theatre in colour in the background.
This $5 coloured coin was not issued individually. The Royal Australian Mint, Canberra, in a joint release with New Zealand Post, struck this coin exclusively for inclusion in a fully subscribed issue of 1,915 ANZAC Centenary 2-Coin Sets. Accompanying each coloured rendition of Australia's Triangular ANZAC Day silver $5 proof is a New Zealand 40mm coloured fine silver proof 50c designed by Dave Burke and taken from a mintage limit of 10,000 coins.
The coins are housed encapsulated in an official Royal Australian Mint case accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity and protected by a themed cardboard shipper.
The 2-coin set was sold by ballot to Royal Australian Mint and New Zealand Post mail order customers. The ballot closed on 6th March and was drawn on 11th March 2015. 250 sets were reserved for New Zealand collectors with the remaining 1,665 available in Australia.
