- Australian Wildlife
- $2 2020 Kookaburra, Kangaroo & Koala
- 2oz 99.99% Pure Silver
- Struck by The Perth Mint for the US market
- UNC encapsulated
-
This two ounce uncirculated specimen silver coin was not issued by the Perth Mint directly to Australian collectors. It was allocated for exclusive overseas distribution by US dealer American Hartford Gold.
The reverse design features, for the first time on one coin, the three Australian animals that inspired the Perth Mint's iconic coin series - the Kangaroo, Kookaburra and Koala.
The Kookaburra is Australia's iconic kingfisher dubbed the 'king of the bush'. Kookaburras are known for beady eyes, large beaks and above all, a raucous laughing call. The Kangaroo is undoubtedly the best-known member of Australia's unique animal kingdom. Famous for bouncing at great speed on their powerful hind legs, kangaroos have pouches in which they protect and rear their young. The Koala may be Australia's most endearing animal. Living peacefully in eucalyptus forests, koalas chomp relentlessly on their preferred diet of gum leaves.
The coin includes an authentication feature on the reverse in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter 'P'. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.
