The sixth in the Royal Australian Mint's 'Australia Remembers' series this coin commemorates the Australian Comforts Fund.
The Australia Remembers series recognises those who have made history beyond the battlefields. This coin pays tribute to the Australian Comforts Fund a nationwide contingent of volunteers who provided troops with much-needed sustenance during both World Wars.
Supplying small luxuries such as food clothing stationery tobacco and an amazing1.3 million pairs of socks during WW! the Fund allowed Australian women to contribute to the war effort in a meaningful way. Captain Egene Gorman of the 22nd Battalion stated 'Their soup kitchen was the goal to which even the weariest man persevered'.
Not issued for circulation the coin is encapsulated on an official presentation card.
