Continuing the very popular Lunar Series the Royal Australian Mint has issued the 2014 Year of the Horse 99.9% One Kilo silver proof $30 coin.
This prooflike coin was struck by the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra primarily to meet demand in China. The reverse design, by Ms Chrissy Lau, features the 'Eight Horses' of Má Wáng, renowned for having carried the fifth ruler of the Zhou Dynasty, King Mu (1023-957) BCE.
The issue limit of 1,500 was not reached with mint records indicating that ONLY 89 coins were issued, each housed encapsulated in a hinged-lid Royal Australian Mint presentation case and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
