$5 1992 Space Al/Bronze Matte Variety Proof
The standard reverse design of the 1992 International Year of Space five dollar proof coin features a matte surface on the map of Australia with a coarser finish on the flag. This rare variety has an even matte (frosted) surface over both the flag and the map, the coarse finish is missing. Less than 100 examples with this error are believed to exist, making this rare coin one of the smallest $5 mintages ever! The original inner boxes have deteriorated over the years which is usual for this issue and had come directly from the Royal Australian Mint Canberra.
