Stuart Devlin's original concept description:
A central motif of Australia enclosing Nova Peris-Kneebone's Aboriginal representation of her ancestors living with the early settlers. It will be surrounded by a border of various kinds of early ships heading towards Australia's shores.
His comments on the final design:
'This is an adaptation of Nova Peris-Kneebones's sketches and is to do with the change brought about by the arrival of the white settlers and living together with the Aborigines. I did a great deal of research of actual ships sailing Australia at that time and the designs of the 19 ships which form the outer border are authentic.'second quality outer case
