This coin was issued by the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the naming of Canberra as the site for the new Capital City of Australia.
The reverse design depicts Canberra's skyline set over a reflection of an artistic impression of that same skyline 100 years before.
The issue limit of 5,000 proof's was not reached with the mintage declared at 4,011 coins, each housed encapsulated in an official Royal Australian Mint presentation case, protected by an illustrated cardboard shipper and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. A separate empty folder was provided within the packaging for the insertion of a 20c coin (not included) to create a Centenary of Canberra coin pair.
