In 2019 we mark the 50th Anniversary of one of the most significant moments of human endeavour and celebrate the Australian technology and ingenuity that allowed the world to share for the first time that a human walked on the Moon.
The Apollo 11 lunar landing is commemorated on this 2019 $5 silver domed proof coin featuring nickel plating and colour print. The reverse design depicts an Apollo 11 astronaut and the lunar module Eagle, at Tranquility Base on the Moon, with the coloured Earth visible in the sky.
The issue limit of 10,000 coloured & curved proofs was not reached with the mintage declared at 8,300 coins, each housed encapsulated, in a timber, hinged-lid case protected in a themed cardboard shipper and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
