50c 1966 Round 80% Silver Average Circulated
To supply the Australian public with the changeover to decimal currency in 1966, 36 million, 80% silver round 50c pieces were struck. Due to the rising silver prices towards the end of 1966, the Royal Australian Mint stopped production making the round 50c piece a one year type.
Due to the large mintage, rounds are generally traded for their silver value at the current bullion price.
