

50c 2015 Australians at War - Crete Carded UNC
As part of the ANZAC Centenary 2014-2018 Commemorative Coin Program issued by the Royal Australian Mint three new cupro-nickel 50¢ pieces have been issued with a mintage of 50 000 of each design dated 2015.
In 1941 as Australian and allied troops began withdrawing from Greece many were relocated to the island of Crete to sustain the Royal Navy's garrison. The reverse of the eighth coin features a vivid depiction of soldiers battling while aircraft and airborne troops attack from above.
