50c 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Gold Plated
The XXI Commonwealth Games will take place on the Gold Coast from 4 - 15 April with a worldwide audience being invited to uphold the Games’ motto to “Share the Dream”.
To celebrate the Gold Coast 2018 XXI Commonwealth Games the Royal Australian Mint has struck a gold plated cupro-nickel 50 cent. The reverse features an artistic depiction of a Gold Coast beach with the tail of a whale frolicking in the surf. Around the edge are pictograms of the 23 Commonwealth Games sports. The gold plating is designed to represent the golden sun of the Gold Coast.
