2011 Masterpieces in Silver - Royal Australian Navy

The Royal Australian Mint's 2011 Masterpieces in Silver set commemorated 100 years of the Royal Australian Navy (R.A.N.). The set consists of six proof sterling silver (.999 Fine) two dollar coins with reverse designs which pay tribute to six significant RAN ships which have defended the seas of Australia and our allies since 1911.

The reverse designs of the 6 coins in the set depict:

• HMAS AE2 Submarine,
• HMAS Australia II Heavy Cruiser,
• HMAS Hobart II Missile Destroyer,
• HMAS Yarra III Frigate,
• HMAS Sydney III Aircraft Carrier and
• HMAS Armidale II Partol Boat.

Limited to an issue of 5,000, the coins are housed individually encapsulated in a hinged-lid presentation case. The coins are accompanied by six information sheets, providing information about each of the featured ships, stored in a leather pouch. The case and pouch are protected by a colourful cardboard shipper. Second quality inner box and outer cardboard box.
