1966 Proof Set - Perfect
This set is the first of an annual release of Australia's circulating coins struck in proof form by the Royal Australian Mint. The set consists of six coins :
- One Cent
- Two Cents
- Five Cents
- Ten Cents
- Twenty Cents
- Round Silver Fifty Cents.
A total of 18,110 proof sets were released the six coins being housed unsealed in a blue hinged lid presentation case.
Because the coins in the set were not sealed storage in other than optimum conditions has resulted in a significant proportion of 1966 proof sets containing toned coins particularly the bronze 1 and 2 cent pieces and the round silver 50 cent coin. This toning significantly reduces the value of the set.
These perfect condition sets have coins free from spots fingerprints and toning.
It is difficult to find a pristine quality set with unimpaired coins.
